The conference will as usual feature a packed programme of Workshops. These are linked to each dimension underpinning detail and different perspectives to the six dimensions of focus.
Conference attendees will be able to choose from at least 36 different topics over the two days with the opportunity to attend 2 on day one and 3 on day two.

Case Studies Relating to the Benefits of in-house Provision of Initial Teacher Training
The workshop will provide the opportunity to discuss the findings of the Case Studies conducted into the benefits of providing In-House Initial Teacher Training qualifications. A presentation will accompany the overview of the case studies and the creator of the case studies, an experienced teacher educator, will be available for questions and to encourage group discussion relating to routes to developing staff training qualifications.

Developing Training and Teaching Staff to Support Functional Skills
This workshop will focus on the development of the functional skills pilot, lessons learned and the key messages around teaching and learning. It will show the links between developing functionality for the different pathways post 14 and learners’ independent application of their skills across the three areas of English, mathematics and ICT. The session will allow for discussion and activity as well as having some input. It is intended to allow time for debating some of the issues that have arisen from the FS requirements and the implications for management of FS development and ensuring learner achievement.

YPLA – Roles & Responsibilities
This workshop will provide an overview of the new system for commissioning and funding 16-19 education and training, with a particular focus on the roles and responsibilities of the two key partners in that new system: the Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA) and Local Authorities. The workshop will also provide an update on progress towards establishing the new system.

Effective Sales Account Management
'Effective Sales Account Management' – Most Learning Providers do not have an effective approach to Account Management yet recognise the need for one. This session looks at how to implement a robust account management strategy whilst helping the organisation become more sales aware by focusing on the customer experience as well as results.
Taking the 80/20 rule of (20% customers generate 80% of the revenue) this session explores why there is a reluctance towards effective account management and what can be done to unlock a rich seam of opportunity that is trapped in your strategic accounts.

Making Foundation Learning Work
This workshop aims to help learning providers understand and maximise training opportunities provided by Edexcel’s Foundation Learning offer. Attendees will be learn how to prioritise and plan their programmes, understand the entry and Level 1 provision, explore the progression routes onto Apprenticeships, Diplomas, Level 2 qualifications and employment. They will also gain insights in devising the next steps for a successful Foundation Learning training programme.

Train to Gain Planning and Funding – what went wrong and how to fix it
This workshop will review the short history of Train to Gain, and explore why the budget went from underspend to ‘bust’ so quickly. It will then look at the particular funding challenges providers face in 2009/10, with tips on performance management and ways to make best use of the limited resource. Finally, we will consider the long-term future of Train to Gain as well as how some providers are building on their rapid growth in employer services to access new revenue streams.

TSNLA (Third Sector National Learning Alliance) Identifying and Working with the 3rd Sector – Building a Representative Network
During the workshop we will work together to identify the benefits of working with Voluntary and Community Organisations and Social Enterprises to provide learning, skills and employment support. I will share a narrative of the reasons for setting up the Third Sector National Learning Alliance and highlight the important role the third sector plays in learning provision. We will also share ideas for collaborative working and partnerships and highlight work that is being done to support third sector organisations through the transition from the LSC.
